We have to start here, as it is the founding shop. Is it half way up the hill to the castle or half way down to the beach? Either way you will deserve an Ice Cream.
“The ice cream here is much nicer than in the other shops” is the consistent cry.
“What is the secret ingredient?” “Seaweed of course, that’s why the beach is so clean. I collect it at the dead of night!” “It could of course be our secret herd of cattle?”
All our ice cream was made here when on a sunny August day you would see rows and rows of milk churns by the back door. It looked like Wales answer to the Terracotta Army.
At this shop we sell just take away ice cream, sundaes and our special chilled drinks. From November to March we are open Saturday and Sunday afternoons only and hot drinks are an addition to our range. (Christmas, New Year and February half term open all week)

This was the first new Cadwalader's outlet back in June 1984. It became famous for another character Val Hulme, who set the shop up and managed it for the first 16 years. It always shone like a new pin and we felt that we had to replace the glass each year, as she must have cleaned it thin!
We are so grateful to Val for setting our standards so high from the very beginning.
Pwllheli is our smallest shop and only sits 4 inside, but we still offer a small range of pastries besides the usual ice cream, sundaes, hot drinks and chilled drinks.
Pwllheli is open from Mid March to the end of October.

This is where we first began to operate as an Ice Cream Café introducing for the first time Coffees, Pastries and Savouries in the winter.
We often test our ideas here ranging from:

Not many shops can say they are grateful to the local planners, especially when they enforce "odd" restrictions.
They did however make us develop our designs along new avenues. This enabled us to successfully be sympathetic to the local environment, even to the extent of rebuilding the lovely Victorian canopy. This approach, we believe, is now a common theme to all our sites.
The commitment of our staff is such that when the town flooded in 1993 we sold an ice cream to the "skipper" of a car as it floated passed the shop. Only Cadwalader's and M&S in Mostyn Street were open to trade the next day!
Llandudno has 26 covers, sells the full product range and is open every day of the year, except Christmas week.

Located in the eccentric gem, which is Portmeirion Village, created by Sir Clough Williams Ellis the celebrated architect, Cadwalader's complements the original vision.
On a sunny summer Sunday where else can a real ice cream be experienced whilst listening to a string quartet, lazing amongst stunning architecture and surrounded by rare plant gardens. We believe that the Cadwalader's Experience is just one facet making up the total Portmeirion Experience, be it strolling, lazing, just playing on the beach and much more.
We are open 10.00am to 5.00pm everyday except Christmas. Find out more about a day in Portmeirion by following the links.

Opened in 1998 Betws was the first of the new style and design from which all the other shops have followed. The Station Approach area has become more and more popular with new developments and we like to think by our own positive impact upon the area.
Of all the shops the Betws team think they make the best Smoothies and Milk Shakes. We therefore use them as our new ideas testers, especially for the expanding Chilled Drinks range.
This shop is as close as you can get to the Coach Drop Off point and is ideal to chill out in after a day in the mountains.
Cadwalader's in Betws Y Coed is open every day except Christmas day, offering Ice Creams, an extended Sundaes range, the best in Hot Drinks plus those Chilled Drinks we rave about.

The Gogs join the Taffs and we start to spread one of the Llyn’s best kept secrets. Our other famous export, Bryn Terfyl sings very highly of us. Expansion into the new vibrant Bay area was initially thought of as risky but our optimism has been very well founded.
The shop is in Mermaid Quay by the end of Bute Street where Solomon Andrews, that great Victorian Entrepreneur, opened the first temperance café in Cardiff Docks. This was one of his first business ventures. The family owners of Cadwalader's are all descendants of Solly so by moving to Cardiff means we are back to our roots. We take his motto of “Keep Moving” very seriously.
Our Cardiff Bay Ice Cream Café offers a full range of products with the extra special option of Ice Cream Cocktails. Seating is available for over 100 overlooking the spectacular Bay waterfront. We are open every day except Christmas Day.

We had the opportunity and we took it. We are proud to be part of and help enhance the Trentham Experience.
Our vision at the start was to be the best ice cream parlour in Britain and in many ways we have achieved our goal. Not just in Ice Cream presentation (60 flavour cabinets) but also:
The main joy has been how we have learnt and cascaded so many of our ideas and good experiences into the existing shops. Uniforms, crockery, use of fresh fruit, temperature control techniques and coffee making skills have all hugely improved because of the Trentham project. We even use some of our Welsh language in Trentham, which has been very positively received.
The shop is open everyday except Christmas Day with a vast range of Ice Creams, Sundaes, Drinks (hot and cold), pastries and savouries (including Stokes local speciality Oat Cakes).
